Preparing For Your MRI

For most MRIs there is no special preparation for the exam. However, for certain specialty studies, our CMI nurse will provide you with special instructions. This will be done upon our phone confirmation of your appointment prior to your exam.

When you arrive at the office, please feel free to ask about matters that concern you. We want you to be comfortable. We recommend that you dress comfortably, for example, sweat suits or fleece wear. If your clothing contains zippers, metal snaps, buttons, or metallic trimming, we’ll ask you to change into examination clothes provided by our office. If you feel you need to be premedicated prior to your MRI for pain, anxiety, or claustrophobia, please contact your provider that is ordering your MRI.

For safekeeping, we will ask you to lock all of your items that may be magnetic or affected by the magnet. These items include your car keys, coins, hairpins, and jewelry. We have lockers in the dressing rooms.

Please bring a CD or request your favorite radio station so that you may relax and listen to music while you have your MRI. Our facilities have been carefully designed for your comfort and well-being.

Please Note:
It is recommended that you bring any health care provider forms and/or information so that we may best assist you. This will include all compensation and/or no fault information. Please obtain and bring with you all prior CT scans and X-rays pertaining to your present condition. If you have any questions, please call: 315-792-4666 or 1-800-839-4666 between the hours of 8am and 9pm, Monday thru Friday.

Insurance Information: CMI participates with most insurance plans, however it is the patient’s and/or referring provider's responsibility to verify coverage and benefits prior to obtaining services as well as obtaining necessary prior authorizations. Please bring your current health insurance card(s) with you at the time of your appointment.

Many insurance plans require co-payments at the time of service as part of your contract. We expect that you are familiar with your insurance coverage and co-pay requirements. We accept cash, check, and most major credit cards at our campuses.

You may also inquire about account balances and make payments to your account at the time of registration. If you have questions about your bill or your insurance, please contact Practice Management Services at 315-798-1893, or email Lori Misiaszek at lmisiaszek@sdmg.com.
