preparing for your mri

For most MRIs there is no special preparation for the exam. However, for certain specialty studies, our CMI nurse will provide you with special instructions. This will be done upon our phone confirmation of your appointment prior to your exam.

When you arrive at the office, please feel free to ask about matters that concern you. We want you to be comfortable. We recommend that you dress comfortably, for example, sweat suits or fleece wear. If your clothing contains zippers, metal snaps or buttons or metallic trimming, we’ll ask you to change into examination clothes provided by our office.  If you feel you need to be premedicated prior to your MRI for pain, anxiety or claustrophobia, please contact your provider that is ordering your MRI.

For safekeeping, we will ask you to lock all of your items that maybe magnetic or affected by the magnet. We have lockers in the dressing rooms. These items include: your car keys, coins, hair pins and jewelry.

Please bring a CD or request your favorite radio station so that you may relax and listen to music while you have your MRI. Our facilities have been carefully designed for your comfort and well-being.

Insurance Information:

CMI participates with most insurance companies. If CMI does not participate with your insurance, you can still have your MRI with us but you may have a balance. Contact your insurance to find out what your responsibility for out of network testing is. Most insurance companies require pre-authorization for an MRI. It is the responsibility of the ordering provider to obtain this authorization. This is not always a guarantee of payment. All insurance companies vary. Contact your insurance carrier if you have questions about what your responsibilities of payment are.  Below is a list of the insurance companies that we currently participate with.

Many insurance plans require co-payments at the time of service as part of your contract. We expect that you are familiar with your insurance coverage and co-pay requirements. We accept cash, check and most major credit cards at our campuses.
You may also inquire about account balances and make payments to your account at time of registration.
